Use your position in the community to win the hearts of the people.

in #motivation6 years ago

Often times we hear some people's names sounding wherever we are. These are house-hold names who people give much respect for the success or status they hold in a society. For every event that passes by, these people top the lists of the invited guests and they always have special seats reserved for them. A meeting hardly starts off without them however late they get to arrive and yet still everyone gives them audience whenever they speak. This is what happens in most communities here in Africa.

These people are regarded as leaders because of the big status they hold in the communities. And let's be honest, we all love this position in life. It brings a sense of power in one when he realises the community can not do without him. Here in Africa when one reaches that status, the next thing is joining politics because people have vouched for him and plead with him to represent them in the government. We all can reach this position in life but how ready are we to gain it.

This position does not come out of people's favor for you but from the service you contribute to the society. Whenever you rise up when the community is in need of support from someone, people take note as they watch with distinctiveness. This builds appreciation and respect from the people around you which widens as people share about your contributions to the rest of the society. With time you win people's hearts as they value your presence whenever they see you. As a result your status rises through the ranks without you looking for it but your actions doing the work for you.

This kind of status builds genuine leadership that anyone can possess. You don't have to spend extravagantly but use what you possess however small it may be to give to the community. It could be the skills you possess which can be taught to the community for them to get out of poverty, it could be the voice you raise for the needy when you want people to raise funds for them.
Let's not forget, with leadership we can easily extend a hand to the people we want to help.
