Daily Groovy: The Cheetah Quote
The Cheetah says: "Hi! I am a robot. I just upvoted you. I found similar content that readers might be interested in: http://www...." The Cheetah is our friendly neighborhood plagiarism bot. I knew about the Cheetah robot from day one at Steemit and thought I would never see this bot on my post. Two weeks later I became addicted to Steemit posting. I loved putting out posts and became sloppy. My last post was not a shit post but I couldn't leave Mario Savio's quote alone without adding his speech. I uploaded the post from my smartphone in a hurry without thinking. I will never do that again. Being caught by the Cheetah feels like being pulled over by a police officer for speeding. It is better to take the time and type things out in your own words. We get credit for good content not for more posting.
I learned three things from this Cheetah encounter that will improve my blogging.
First, Slow Down - There is no need to post content unless it is original and pertinent from inside me. This takes time and keeping a memo as I go about my day taking notes. Personally I think I can only write one good post a day. It takes time to digest all my thoughts going on and it takes the right environment to write them down. I thought I could go around posting from my smart phone whatever came to mind at the moment but this is no good for anybody. Now I carry a pen and paper and jot things down. Then when I am sitting at my desk in a quiet place I can sum it all up without my kids jumping on me. They need quality time with me. They don't need to see me writing on my smart phone all the time.
Second, Be true and free - I thought I had to deliver a product and limited that product to quotes from people and pop characters from the Woodstock period. I thought that was groovy. I ended up taking more time to explain who the person or character is than reflecting on the quote itself. I was gone from the blog. This is a dead blog. I limited myself too much. Who said only 1969 is groovy? Today there are groovy things going on. Mariah Carey, G-Easy and Motorhead accepting Monero for their music is groovy (CryptoCoinsNews). Steam saying, "Your Bitcoin is no good here," that's groovy (Ars Technica). Maybe Donald Trump saying government shutdown "could happen" is not groovy. But the cheetah saying, "Hi! I am a robot," is the most groovy thing today for me. I am true and free.
Third, Reflect - I need to take time to think about what I am writing before I write and then organize the writing and then look at it again. My blog here is not about posting but it's about writing and inspiring others and myself :) If I don't have time to finish all I got in one sitting I will come back and finish it later and with new energy and new ideas so each post will be something useful and not just fertilizer for steemit.
I hope you enjoyed this post and every post from now on. Has the Cheetah ever visited your neighborhood? Don't be ashamed. Take it as a learning experience.
Love
