Never cower. Always have your head up high.
Having a well balanced self-esteem/self-worth goes a long way to show how much confidence you have in yourself. It gives you an edge amongst your equals. Life is too short to live on the dictates of other people. It's you and you alone in this journey (i.e. You are on your own). You owe no one any explanation of what you do, it's your life not theirs. If you end up failing you will have yourself to blame so make the best use of your today.
Every moment counts, because the same 24 hours you have is the same 24 hours the richest man in the world has. The difference is in time management and utilisation of opportunities.
To make a difference you have to take certain decisions.
Most persons allow their past mistakes hold them back thereby causing them to develop a very low self worth. They tend to see themselves of lesser value compared to those around them. I have grown to live a life of self-confidence and stop blaming myself for the mistakes I made in the past. Mistakes are made because of the information we lacked at that moment.
To make advancement in life one has to let go of the past. Past mistakes only stand as an obstacle to achieving one's purpose and visions in life as well as reaching one's destiny. Living in the past is living in an imprisoned world rather live by the three R's:
Repent.
Rectify the situation if possible.
Take Responsibility for your life.
God has no problem making whatever is in your part leave you, His issue is in getting you to loosen your grip on it. He speaks to you and not what's bothering you therefore "throw it away".
Another way to build your self worth is to learn to forgive. The word forgive literally means to get it out, it has nothing to do with the other person. The test of love is to forgive the guilty.
Bitterness is like a chain around the neck of your potential choking the life out of your freedom and joy and making even the sweet taste of success turn sour in your mouth.
To be continued........
