in #motivation6 years ago (edited)

The Nigerian president General Mohammed Buhari made this statement; #nigerianyouthsarelazy during the last concluded common wealth summit in london.

Well, this statement many was a shock how our own president can have the guts to disgrace the future of his country in a foreign land in the present of all the world leaders, but to me, I will say that this statement came at the right time to really determine who we #nigerianyouths will vote in as our next president the on coming 2019 general election.

But before we get to this, let's find out the truth behind the statement;

are nigerian youths really lazy?

if no, why did our own leader decided to call us lazy?

as a nigerian youth, what should be our reaction to this statement?

ARE NIGERIAN YOUTHS REALLY LAZY?

On answering theses questions from the very first one, I will like us to understand what laziness really mean.

according wikipedia

Laziness (also known as indolence) is disinclination to activity or exertion despite having the ability to act or exert oneself
|

From the above definition of laziness according to wikipedia, to me, I don't think my fellow nigerian youths are lady with the following proof of mine:

  • they is no part of the world you will not find us(nigerian youths) struggling on how to make endsmeet due to the inavilability of support and an enabling environment in our own country, many people can testify to this truth, we have lots of hard working nigerian youths in diaspora who has gone out seeking for greener pasture, infact the whole world knows that the most strongest set of people who has all it takes to withstand any challenges are nigerians.

We have lots of hardworking nigerian youths out there, people like; terry; @surpassinggoggle, @maryfavour and many other ones who are doing very fine out there, they are not lazy, nigerian youths are not lazy but very hardworking.

  • A lazy person will not go out there to hustle and seek for ways on making endsmeet.

From the picture above, you find out that many of our brothers and sisters are really trying their very best on a daily basis to ensure that they put food on their own table.

  • The picture below is the handwork of a young nigerian who is applying his creativity even at the tender age of 10 years, using slippers to construct keke napep populary know as tri-cycle, he is from portharcout the state capital of Rivers state Nigeria.

This kind of creativity, if we have a responsible government leaders, he should have been adopted by the government and train him towards becoming an icon, but the reverse is the case, now tell me, why wouldn't Nigerian youths seek for greener pasture abroad?

world heavyweight champion

The above picture is the present world heavyweight champion Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua, he is a NIGERIAN by virtue of birth, when he started fighting as an amateur in 2007, the Nigerian government refuses to sign him as their own due to their selfishness, but now the young man is now signed citizenship with the british government, he is now the world heavyweight champion.

Many of such circumstances kept marking the Nigerian youths as one of the most smart, creative, intelligent, and hardworking set of peoplein the world but our so called leaders are turning us down, no enabling environment to enable us boost the treasure in us, despite that, we are still trying our very best, are all these ones laziness?

IF NO, WHY DID OUR OWN LEADER TAG US AS LAZY PEOPLE?

The fact remains that if a wife doesn't have or know what to say to the husband, that's when you will hear her saying;

honey, let me remove water in your teeth.

as if water is a particle

It's not a news any longer that our own president Muhammed Buhari is a incompetence and always afraid when he goes out on a general meeting with other world leaders, because of the fear of not knowing what to say, he uttered this evil words out unknowingly because he was not reading from a book (that's what fear and inconfindence can do), but to me, he just spoke out his voting out words because without PMB to have make this statement, they would have been a posibility of him coming back to still rule us come the 2019 general election.

but here is the goodnews, it would have been better if PMB was insulting the elders, but it is an added advantage to us as nigerian youths because over half the population of nigeria of over 183 million citizens are youths, so that number alone is enough to do the needful by voting out who doesn't deserve to be our leader and vote in a sound, confident and responsible leader.

AS A NIGERIAN YOUTH, WHAT SHOULD BE OUR REACTION TO THIS STATEMENT?

Well, the statement is just a mere words, we are matured people, just a statement made by an incompetent leader, the fact remains that:

we nigerian youths, we are very hardworking

This is where emotional intelligence comes in, the fact that PMB said we are lazy doesn't mean that we are lazy truely, what we should ask ourselves is:

are we lazy?

Since NO is the answer, PMB's statement becomes useless to the wise ones.

Therefore to proof that we are not lazy, I will advice all the nigerian youths who may not have gotten their PVC (permanent voters card) to do so now so that come 2019 general election, we would eligible to cast our vote to the right leader and president who will represent us very well both home and abroad.

This is my own PVC, go get yours now

Nigeria is a great nation, the giant of africa, one of the most strongest nation in the world, we are bless with unlimited natural resources and vibrant youths, infact 3/4 of our population are vibrant and energetic youths who are very eager to work, but we have just one problem; our leaders don't know how to manage both our people and the natural resources.

So it is our responsibility to elect anybody well fitted, smart and confident enough to lead us to the promise land.

Nigerian youths are not lazy, the president calling us lazy doesn't change the fact that we are known to be hardworking people all over the world, so his words should rather be a boost and encouragement to us instead of a discouragement.

I really do not blame the president for his comment. I have gotten to understand that as you age, your brain gradually deteriorates. This man is over 60yrs old and supposed to be retired but because of greed and power, we are being insulted by an illiterate. May God help us.

All well said and correct. Nigerian youths are struggling to survive in the face of bad government. Many graduates swallow their pride and pick up menial jobs, yet this is what we get from the president we expect to change things for us. My humble advice is not yo rest hope on Government.Everyone should acquire a skill and become his/ her own boss. Start something, no matter how small

Truth be told, there are basic amenities that are supposed to be provided by the government and without these, any business you try to do on your own is really gonna struggle. Take for example our dear steemit or blogging in general, I barely get power to power my devices and sometimes when it comes, I'm either engaged with something else or the light won't last. When I try to improvise by getting a generator, the price and availability of fuel will make sure your efforts are frustrated. And when you become more informed and try to get an inverter with a solar system installed, the cost is so heart breaking because of the dollar rate. What do you expect us to do from this point?

@adoore-eu you are absolutely right dear, no matter what is and how small it is acquire a skill and start something even if you are a graduate, the blockchain and crytocurrency is here, explore and invest, stop waiting for anyone.
