Nigerians are not Lazy: just slow learners

in #motivation6 years ago (edited)

I could remember few years back in Nigeria. We were always complaining of hard times irrespective of the dispensation or administration we found ourselves. But we hardly take any positive actions towards our individual conditions.

Fuel was cheaper, cost of goods and services were lower, house rents and building materials were affordable. Yet we kept on complaining. I don't want to bore us with statistics of things then compared to now. You can read it up here, here and here

But only few Nigerians understood the lessons to be learnt based on what they're passing through.

things are hard, is the normal slang of others

Fast forward to this present administration, where there's economic recession, things are not only hard but though.
Reasons are intertwined, because each one has a ripple effect on the other. They're in chains. For example,
•the value of our crude oil reduced greatly
• The value of our currency compared to other foreign currencies dropped drastically
•Imported goods, including matches and bags of rice became expensive.
• cost of other goods and services became higher
•cost of living skyrocketed and average Nigerians are facing the ripple effect of all these.
Note that this is just an example of the multiplying effects of all these on Nigerians.

Where do we go from here?

I believe the effects of all these scenarios have made more Nigerians to be smarter.
We have now learnt how to utilise our resources better.

-We now know that the plots beside our houses can be used to plant vegetable, maize, yam or pepper, just to mention but few.

-We have now reduced our movements, no more unnecessary visitation.

-Most of us that have abandoned our fathers' farmlands are now going back to mechanised farming.

-we now have a very high sense of financial discipline in our spending

-in fact, some of our wards' schools are being changed from either an expensive to inexpensive or from private to public schools.

-Having more than one source of legitimate income

All these methods are used in adapting to the economic depression. I wonder why it took us this long to learn

Nigerians are great people and we need to continue our lifestyles like this, not wasting resources, diversifying our sources of incomes and never giving up on our dear country, our lives will be better for it.

Gone are the days when having a certificate will get you a good job

This time around, you need extra to make it here. Only few can enjoy the smooth grace. You can learn a trade, be a creator of necessary services needed in your environment. Source other legitimate ways to make money

Imagine the enormous multiplying or ripple effects this will have on Nigeria economy.
Nigeria really need to diversify and not concentrate on oil alone. This can only be achieved with our help.

God bless our dear country Nigeria!

Nigerians are definitely not lazy people. But the economic and social structure makes it difficult for many hardworking people to see the proportionate rewards for their efforts. We'll posted.

A very uplifting look at events. The silver linings of the events, if you will. Although your country has likely suffered from inflation as much as most other countries, it has been felt to one degree or another in most countries. Hopefully the citizens of other countries shall learn by your example.

My rule book is to find community, seek self sufficiancy and decentralize central authority one law at a time. Sounds like it's Nigeria's as well. ✌💛

Yes, we learnt our lessons the hard way, when we had excess, we became wasteful, we are suffering for that now. But we've started picking up from where we started. Thanks so much for checking my blog,it means a lot to me

The Economic recession has helped to sharpen our youths. Now they are becoming more creative, hardworking and creating employment for others.

Yes, it has helped our youths, many now know that going to school and getting a certificate alone can't solve their problems, you need to add extra value to yourself before you can be relevant. Thanks for checking my blog and upvoting. I really appreciate your kind gesture. Cheers!
