Yesterday I had my university results and I will be graduating with a first class degree in psychology from the University of Warwick.
In 2012 I was an inpatient in a psychiatric hospital for 6 months and diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder. When I got out I swore to myself that I’d go back to that same hospital but on the right side of things - to help adolescents struggling as I was.
I went back to school and got into uni. However, last year I was set to do my finals and I had a breakdown in the middle of an exam. An episode of depression, anxiety and pure stress just overwhelmed me and I couldn’t cope. The university allowed me to ‘resit without residence’ this year and so I took the exams I was meant to sit last year this May. I got my results. I have a first class degree. I just can’t believe it. It’s been such a long, hard and emotional journey but with absolute determination it has worked out.
I’ve gone from being literally locked up 24 hours a day struggling to want to live anymore to making real progress on my own journey to make a difference for individuals in the same situation I was in. Have hope that your struggles do not define you and with hard work and desire you can improve yourself. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

You work sitting behind a computer for 10 hours per day and you're surrounded by snacks and junk food. Being overweight seems certain in that scenario. Indeed, many individuals find themselves in this exact predicament.
But, this doesn't have to happen. Your emotional states are the things that are making you reach for that food. A Mars bar is a way to feel fine for a minute. A burger and fries are easy and fast when your whole day is slow and obnoxious.
This is completely normal. Yet, be aware of the same emotions and listen to what they have to say, even when they might sound unreasonable.
Be mindful of the stress, the tension, the pressures and most of all, the occasional boredom. Accept the same feelings and don't be hard on yourself because of experience them. Don't judge yourself. Try to understand and accept yourself.
Do this and the dangers of obesity will drop as you become more understanding of how you feel and function.

Post a picture of something you have accomplished! Extra upvotes for before and after pictures.
PZ-01 "I think it would be cool to have a picture thread once a week where people can show something they have accomplished by TAKING ACTION. It not only is a testament of fulfilling a task, but a picture is a concrete materialization of said endeavor. I feel like doing something and having a picture to look at later at night gives me a reminder that I did good and I can go to sleep proud."
Examples: Messy room before/after. A page of hand written study notes. A ticked off to-do list. A picture of a readout from an exercise machine. A hand written plan for the week. A picture from the top of a hill you have climbed. A picture of an email with happy client feedback. A graph of the number of miles you have walked in the past year.
