In my own understanding, pride means elevating yourself above and beyond your limit. That is placing priority on your status-quo.. Don’t ask me why status quo, I just like the term and it is usually used first the high and mighty.

Why do people look down on others

Some people feel they are quiet important and more superior to others because of their sense of entitlement. They feel threatened when others aspire to reach their height or aim for their position. So they act prideful and start displaying attitude.

Accomplishment sometimes gets into our head and having series of lucky breaks can sometimes make one feel more superior to others. But then u have to realize that no one expect you to be perfect. Practice how to give and accept advice or opinion from people, either of lower standard/class or the same level. People are either paying attention to your details or they are not. It is always good and nice to let theses ones watching see the real you.

Personal pride

You can be proud of your accomplishment and handwork. Be proud of exceeding your goal, these are personal victory worth celebrating and being proud of. Take pride in yourself and do not let this opinions and achievement gets into your head. Learn not to compare the strength and weakness of others with yours. Be conscious of yourself so as not to be self centered.

Natural Pride

Some are just born proud, they raise up their shoulders naturally and no matter the argument, they insist they are not proud. Their genes are wired to be proud. They tend to be more annoying as everything they say or do shows they are annoying. The downside of it is, they never get over it. Ladies/men that are naturally proud have problem at work, marriage and in their family because no one seems to understand.

What Proud People Tends To Lose

1.) They lose friendship: Due to the character, friends get pissed off with them. They feel whatsoever they do is show-off which most times it is. I have discovered that most of them do not have friends.

2.) They lose help: Nobody wants to associate with proud people even amongst themselves. This belief works against them as people believe they don't need help. Most of them unconsciously brag about having what they don't have and when they need this, they find it difficult to seek for assistance.

3.) They lose jobs: A boss has authority and most times see their employees as minor, this tend to reflect on boss-employee relationship. Bosses feel they can't control the proud ones and they may end up being a problem so they let them go on most cases. Apart from jobs, proud people lose contracts, clients and customers.

4.) They lose love: Love in this context means marriage or relationship. Men are naturally egositic and believe women should be submissive to them. Proud people either as a man or woman tends to lose relationship. The proud woman refuses to be submissive while the proud man refuses to be understanding.

With these being said, there are many things to lose apart from these. Pride comes before destruction, let us learn to be quick to listen and slow to talk. I have personally met lot of proud people and they are mostly on the same spot or backward. Why being proud when it is easier to be humble? Don't brag, don't over-hype, don't flaunt. They are wrong and put a wrong label to your name.

LOL...this got rolling 😅😅😅

Ife, you've said it all! I totally agree with you, but I just want to add a christian view to it. The Bible says

Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Assuredly, he will not be unpunished.
Proverbs 16:5

yeah this is soo true..

Lol ife baby 😂🤣 mama you are wrong o🤣🤣🤣

Well i am right oooo

As you described - pride has its pros and cons. As one of the deadly sins - it is thought of as excessive or an irrational belief that one is superior or better than others and never acknowledging the achievement of others. It can be so dangerous that it causes selfishness due to one's arrogance.

Self reflection then becomes difficult.

Yes to this MoMo ...You then start creating animosity for yourself ...
