What are your thoughts on "fake it till you make it"?

Every time someone quoted the saying "fake it till you make it" to me, it didn't ever sit so well but I never really understood why.

Yes, I get that often when you are starting something new you might be out of your depth at times. But if you fake it till you make it then there is the possibility that others could land up seeing straight through you.

"Face it till you make it" leaves you in a position that shows others that you might not have all the answers but that you are prepared to learn what is needed and to grow as you educate yourself.

Whether you fail along the way it doesn't matter as long as you are prepared to learn from the previous mistakes and improve the next time around.
