Dwelling in Pity?

There are certain persons who do not move forward in life because of certain traits.

~Self-pity: This kind of persons blame themselves, others, circumstances for their failure. They make excuses for why they are not successful. They resort to begging and lies in order to get people to pity them and give them money or favours.

There is a woman, a member of our church who lost her baby few years ago.
When we heard the news, we were distraught. Her friend told us about the expensive medical bills and treatment she and her husband paid for the baby to get better. Yet, the baby died, barely four months after its birth.
When we arrived at her place, she was looking bright and kept saying positive words; God is in control, It is well, I am thankful for everything.

I learnt something from her, she did not allow herself to be pitied neither did she give room for self-pity.
She later had another baby, and he is doing fine. He is even in a primary school now.

~Blind Emotions: Engage your brains in productive thoughts rather than letting circumstances affect your inner peace. Do not let emotions prevent you from creative thinking. Say NO to self-pity.

In life, you have no excuse for failure. If you fail today, keep working on it till you succeed. Let your motto be; is either I succeed or I succeed. No chance for failure. Do not let past mistakes hold you back.

Stay away from people who keep reminding you of your past failures. Stick around with people who motivate and encourage you to pursue your dreams.

Do not let what people say or think about you get to you. Learn to be deaf to destructive criticism. Stay focused and keep chasing your goal. Let go of your fears. Don't be afraid of failures, learn from your mistakes and move on.

A senior colleague of mine shared his success story with me few years ago.
He wanted to have a first class degree and in that department no one has ever achieved that.
His colleagues discouraged him, they kept reminding him how those who were more brilliant had tried to attain a first class degree to no avail.
He kept on with his dream despite the challenges. His self-motivation, dedication and hardwork later paid off.
He graduated with a first class degree.
Even his colleagues started using him to boast to their friends in other departments; Our set is the best set in the department, we produced a first class candidate.

Till date, he is still the only first class candidate. I hope someone else achieved that feat someday.

I learnt from his story, success comes to those who don't give up. In the race of life, pursue your goals regardless of what people say or think about you. Be in charge of your happiness, have a positive attitude towards your dreams and goals.

Stay motivated. Do have a splendid week

Thanks for reading my blog.

That's so true, there's no excuse for failure. You only fail if you stop trying, and if you stop working. Your failure starts the moment you resign and give up. Confucius said,

"The glory in life is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."

What we should stop doing is feeling sorry for ourselves and having this self-pity because it will just lead nowhere and won't accomplish anything. You will just remain stuck where you're at. But if you decide to rise up every time you experience failure or make mistakes, then you learn from those experiences, and you will be a better, more courageous and more confident person than you were prior to pursuing your goals.

Thanks so much for your contribution.
Self-pity is something we should not allow in our lives. It robs us of better days, better opportunities and better potentials.
