   The leaves are as thick as one layer of cells, except the mother of the leaf bone is more than one layer. Small leaf cells, containing chloroplasts are arranged like a net and are narrow and elongated

B. CIRI – CIRI TUMBUHAN LUMUT (BRYOPHYTA)
Berukuran kecil dan jarang mencapai 15 cm
Bentuknya pipih seperti pita, dan adapula seperti batang dengan daun yang kecil
Sel-sel penyusun tubuhnya mempunyai dinding sel yang tersusun atas selulosa

Batang dan daunnya mempunyai susunan yang berbeda,yaitu:

1. Selapis sel kulit, yang beberapa diantaranya membentuk rizoid epidermis, rizoid tampak seperti benang yang berfungsi sebagai akar dan menyerap makanan dari air dan garam mineral
2. Lapisan kulit dalam tersusun atas korteks, silinder pusat yang terdiri dari sel penunjang atau parenkim yang memanjang, tidak mengandung xilem dan floem
3. Silinder pusat, terdiri atas sel parenkim yang berguna untuk mengangkut ari
   dan garam mineral.
   Pertumbuhan pada lumut yaitu secara memanjang
   Susunan gametangiumnya (arkegonium ataupun anteredium) mempunyai susunan yang khas, yang sering dijumpai pada tumbuhan paku (pteridophyta), terutama arkegoniumnya. Arkegonium adalah gamet betina yang berbentuk seperti botol dan mengandung sel ovum, sedangkan anteredium adalah gamet jantan tabg berbentuk bulat dan mengandung sel spermatozoid
   Daunnya setebal satu lapis sel, kecuali ibu tulang daun yang lebih dari satu lapis. Sel-sel daun kecil, mengandung kloroplas yang tersusun seperti jaring dan berbentuk sempit dan memanjang
