Mosquitoes

When they bite they bite and leave a red sore that itches like crazy; antihistamine cream helps but not much. Putting a hot spoon on the bite is supposed to nullify the chemical that causes the itches but I’ve not tried it yet. After a few months the body adjusts to the bites and they don’t itch so much.

Mornings and evenings are when they come out the most, most especially over morning coffee when you’re sitting there with your coffee trying to wake up they hover under the table low down to get your bare feet and legs.
Citronella is a natural spray and best to help fend them off but chemical sprays are not good for the body.
In the evenings they come higher up for your arms and face but if you keep moving they won’t land but then you look strange constantly jerking your arms and legs. They can bite through cotton trousers and tee shirts usually when you’re lying on the bed and if you have one in the room when you sleep you can hear it coming to feed. Sometimes they come out in the afternoons.

Mosquito smoke in the room at nights does work but again, it’s not good to breathe it all night long. They also go into dark bags so that when you take the bag in your room out they come and fly around. They hide in dark places like under the bed or behind curtains.
Not all mosquitoes carry the malaria and dengue fever virus but best to find out where the bad areas are and really take precautions against them, although there is none against dengue fever. But mostly they are just a nuisance.

Thanks, I will look it up...

hate those bastards.. fought them in the hundreds in Africa..

my tactic was to use a electronic tennis racket style mosquito killer... worked pretty good... really the only thing that did... because mosquitos are way slower than flies.. could bat them out of the air or when they rested next to water pots or sinks...

I've been bitten all over Asia and was seriously ill for 2 weeks after one bite. Citronella spray works for me. I've seen electric tennis rackets and they do work when there's a lot of mosquitoes and you can see them. I find the ones that get into the bedroom at night are too fast to even see mostly, but sometimes I got lucky and got one...

use a strong led flashlight in one hand and the racket in the other...
works pretty well and reveals the hunter in you.. ;-)

problem is more that those basters are good on hiding when they are not in the air...

2 weeks seriously ill? probably dengue?? so be careful.. you should not get dengue again from another strain in africa or southamerica...
Asia again should be not so bad...

yes, it probably was dengue fever I had, I was seriously ill and should have gone to the hospital but didn't have enough money to pay so just stayed in bed; I was told that they couldn't do much for me anyway, just keep me hydrated...
