So, I just heard about the Islamist terror attack in Russia that killed 138 people.

I don't know if I just missed the news because I was working and exhausted, or if the media glossed over it, or both.

Nonetheless, there are important things to address.

First of all, I might as well state the obvious, that this was an act of pure evil. I'm aware that the four suspected shooters have been subjected to brutal torture, including one man having his ear cut off and fed to him by Russian personnel.

To an extent, it's hard to sympathize with people who murdered a 138 Russian civilians, including children, in cold blood.

Still, I'm not sure I can support torturing them.

What's more, all the haters of These United States should take several lessons from this.

One lesson is that mass shootings don't just happen here. This shooting in Russia was almost three times as deadly as the Vegas shooting. That's in a country with zero-tolerance gun control.

What's more, the leftist media will never classify this as a mass shooting. They never classified that Garissa school shooting in Ethiopia as a mass shooting.

People love to manipulate words.

It's a regular thing when a mass shooting happens in These United States, that people want to call it a terror attack, even if the shooter was just a maniac who wanted to kill for the sake of killing. By definition, an act of terror comes with political motivations and goals.

Still, attacks like this fit the definitions of both terrorism and mass shootings. Especially after leftists decided to expand the definition of "mass shooting" to include gang crime and domestic crime in order to make the problem sound worse than it is, this falls into the category of a mass shooting.

Still it will never be categorized as such, because that would hinder the narrative that mass shootings only happen here because of our gun culture, and the Second Amendment.

If we were honest enough to include terror attacks with death tolls over five, that occur outside of These United States, as mass shootings, we'd probably have a more accurate picture.

Finally, I can say with absolute certainty that these four men possessed these firearms illegally. That means that gun control didn't stop the bad guys. That also means that Russia legally disarmed any potential Eli Dickens in the room.

It's also illustrative of the reality that lawful defenders are often facing multiple attackers.

This is why I'm passionately opposed to capacity restrictions.

Even if there were an Eli Dicken present, it took him ten rounds to take down one mass shooter. If we adopted Biden's, "Eight bullets in a round." policy, no lawful defender would have a chance against four armed attackers.
