Some interesting life expectancy projections.

UN projections on life expectancy over the next 80 years. The projections generally expect countries to gain a decade in life expectancy. With Japan nearing 95 years and the world average reaching the 80s. I'm curious the underlying assumptions as the US has lagged behind its peer countries in the past decade and in recent years has in fact had declining life expectancy due to a rise in premature deaths.

Remember life expectancy is an average, and this is an average at birth. Life expectancy at say age 65 would be higher and people can exceed the average.

These charts show years of healthy life expectancy and years lived with disability. Healthy life expectancy tends to grow fastest, though we've seen increases in years lived with disability as medical technology improves.

Generally countries that have higher incomes per capita and higher life expectancies have more years lived with disability as medical care for the elderly improves.
