عند كل مساء ،ألتقي مع صديقي خالد في مقهى حيي الشعبي الذي أسكن فيه، أنا أشرب شايي المنعنع ،وهو يحتسي قهوته السوداء ،نتبادل فيما بيننا مواضيع كثيرة عن عادات القبائل المغربية، غالبا ما أدون في دفتري معلومات إضافية جديدة.وإذا كان خالد أكثر معرفة ،وأوسع خبرة بعادات هذه الأقاليم ،فإنني أدق معلومات حول تاريخها ومواقعها ،لذلك فغالبا ما كانت نقاشاتنا تعلق إلى لقاء آخر
كنا نجلس في الجانب الأيمن من المقهى ،لأنه أكثر الأماكن هدوءا ،بينما يجلس في جانبها الأيسر وعلى مدخلها بعض شباب الحي الذين تتعالى أصواتهم خصوصا أثناء مباريات كرة القدم .
تحتوي هذه المقهى على أكثر من مائتي كرسي أغلبها صالح للاستعمال ، وعلى أربعين طاولة تحتاج إلى إعادة إصلاحها من جديد ، أما صاحب المقهى فهو لايتكلم إلا معا النادل الذي يأمره دائما بأن لا يدخل المقهى إلا المحترمون ، ولا يغادرها إلا الزبناء المؤدون واجباتهم
