بزيهم الأحمر و كؤوسهم النحاسية، وقبعاتهم الكبيرة من "دوم" تقييهم من حر مدينة مراكش، بدى أن عرض الماء من طرف ساقيين في شهر رمضان لا يعرف اقبالا كما هو الحال في الشهور الاخرى، وهو امر طبيعي فالشهر هو شهر صيام طيلة يوم الى غروب الشمس.

غير ان هذه العطالة التي تستمر طيلة اليوم تنكسر احيانا بشربة ماء من طرف السياح كتجربة مميزة بالنسبة لهم، خصوص ان الماء يخزن في جلد ماعز يتأبطه بائع الماء بطريقة تتير فضول السياح الاجانب مقابل دراهم معدودات.

ويعتبر اصحاب هذه الحرفة من الثرات المغربي وذاكرة الساحة المصنفة عالميا من طرف اليونسكو، حيث ان غالبيتهم قضى سنوات وسنوات يتجولون في ارجائها وعايشوا كل التفاصيل والتطور الذي شهدتها الساحة دون ان يطالهم شيئ من هذا التطور، لتبقى معانتهم مستمرة تعري عشوائية ممارستهم لهذه المهنة.

ينتظرون أن يجود عليهم الناس بما تيسر

غير بعيد عن المكان الذي يقف فيه السقاؤون، تلاحظ للوهلة الاولى ان عددهم خلال شهر رمضان قل مقارنة بالعدد المعتاد، حيث يرفض من بقي منهم ان يتخلى عن لقمة عيشه ولو كان الامل ضعيف لا يتعدى الصورة طيلة يوم كامل، بحيث اقتنع السقاؤون، بأن الحرفة تبقى "الديكور" ورغبة السياح في أخذ صور معهم، وهي أشياء غطت على الحاجة إلى إرواء العطش.

وتبقى الحرفة رهينة في بعض احيان بتقلبات احوال الطقس خصوصا في فصل الشتاء حيث يقل رواد الساحة و يقل الانتعاش الاقتصادي بها، او كما هو الشأن في شهر رمضان الابرك حيث يقل الطلب على الماء طيلة اليوم، ليتجه عدد منهم الى البحث عن مورد عيش اخر ان كان له من الاتقان والبراعة ما يعوض به حرفته الاصلية، او يذهب عدد منهم الى "التسول" ومنهم من ابى ان يترك الساحة كأنها الحارس الامين على فلكلور مغربي أصيل وحرفة لها جذور ضاربة في فالتاريخ، لتبقى الحرفة في مهب الريح تقاوم لتستمر ولا يطالها الإنقراض في غياب الرعاية الاجتماعي و التغطية الصحية.
