Morocco : Wonderful country

in #morocco6 years ago

The kingdom of Morocco is a North African country located in the northwest. It has been founded since 789, its current governor is King Mohammed VI (grandson of King Mohammed V). Morocco is a well organized and modern country.

Morocco, with the motto God, the Fatherland, the King is a monarchical, parliamentary, unitary and constitutional state. It is vast and has a population of approximately 33,848,242 inhabitants over an area of 446,550 km2. Casablanca, its economic capital, is bigger than its political capital Rabat. This country reaches its independence on March 2, 1956, and since then it is his third king. The first and King Mohammed V, the second Hassan II and the present is Mohammed VI.

After the proclamation of the independence of Morocco, the Sultan takes the title of King and will be baptized King Mohammed V. During the first years of its independence until the 1960s, Morocco had a policy that consisted of reconstituting the great Morocco merging part of Algeria, northwestern Mali, Mauritania ... following the withdrawal of Allal El Fassi, the renunciation of this trend is confirmed by the official acceptance by the government of Rabat of the newly independent republic of Mauritania .

The government of Abdallah Ibrahim (chairman of the government council and foreign affairs minister from December 1958 to May 1960) expresses the country's desire for emancipation through its membership of the Arab League and its support for Pan-Africanism. Morocco abandons the Moroccan franc because it is influenced by the French franc and adopts as currency the Dirham. Also, his policy of opposition to French policy during the Algerian war will lead Morocco to cover training camps and bases of the National Liberation Front (FLN) and the command of the Algerian war.

At the death of his father, Prince Hassan Moulay is the new king and settles under the name of King Hassan II March 3, 1961. During his years, the political life is marked by a very tense climate because in October 1965, leftist opposition leader Mehdi Ben Barka is missing in Paris. He who as leader of the third world was to patronize in 1966 the Tricontinental Conference of Havana. During the same year, Casablanca is shaken by social riots. Several crises rocked the country, including coups d'etat by Colonel M'hamed Abadou and General Medbouh; the Royal Boeing attack in full flight by General Oufkir in 1972 ...

To lower the political and social tensions that shake the country, King Hassan II think of the Moroccanization of companies and lands still held by colonizers. In the post-colonial decade, Morocco focuses on agricultural policy while its neighbor Algeria focuses on industrialization. This is not enough to eliminate the inequalities that will cause discontent of the population through the riots of 1981 in Casablanca and those of Marrakech in 1984. King Hassan II will announce during these years the candidacy of Morocco to join the European community. will unfortunately be refused by the Brussels Commission. The country will however obtain the status of advanced partner with the European institutions.

The year 1988 marks the year of its reconciliation with its Algerian neighbor, this is made concrete by the reopening of the borders and the reestablishment of their diplomatic relations. In 1989, a meeting was held in Marrakesh, Morocco, gathering five heads of state from North Africa (Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania and Libya) marking the birth of the Arab Maghreb Union and considering the emergence of a single market. These objectives will not be achieved with the conflict between Morocco and Algeria again
