"I've seen a lot of my friends give up on skateboarding, surfing, or tennis as soon as they start working," said Boundouq, who admits to having to leave his board alone after settling in Philadelphia. obtaining his Green Card in 2017.
Yassine calls all those who have lost their professional career to their passion not to give up their dreams of youth. "Passion is the essence of life and makes you feel a little more awake, alive!" He says.
In the United States, Boundouq first had to juggle three different jobs that had nothing to do with his passion. Today, he managed to land a coaching position in longboard and skateboarding. Yassine also works as a videographer and freelance photographer, his second passion.
The young safiot, however, had to work hard for the chance to make his passions a full-time job. He bought his first board working as a mason during the summer of 2013, after seeing a young man slide on his longboard instead of the Grand Tagine Safi, where he played with his friends and trained breakdance.
"Finding a longboard in Morocco was impossible. "I spent hours training on my longboard, sometimes until 4am to show them that I was also able to do tricks," says Yassine.
But the group of young skaters gathered late at night in a public space is not always well seen by police forces, which one day come to interrupt one of these night sessions.
"I tried to explain to a policeman that we were just training, he then said: 'Put me away from this tawa (breadboard) and go away,'" he says. , amused.
Yassine ends up adopting this name by becoming "Moul Tawa" (The man with the breadboard). An identity he proudly wears on his Youtube channel where he regularly publishes videos dedicated to longboard, including a request for a sponsor dating from 2014, when the state of his board was critical.
His call did not leave the longboard manufacturers indifferent. Yassine then found himself with two more boards that allowed him to organize longboard competitions in several cities of the kingdom. In July 2015, he was also able to tour Morocco in longboard, thanks to the support of sponsors, to promote longboarding among young people.
Although he lives in the United States, Yassine continues to federate around him the longboarders community of Morocco that he hopes to grow over the years.
