A bit about motivation😜

Motivation is an internal motivation that drives us to want to deal with tasks and challenges, to meet goals and to succeed in doing what we have planned.

It turns out that when we believe in our ability to succeed and the more confident we are, the higher our motivation will be.

On the other hand, the lower our confidence and the less confident we are, the less likely you will be to want to deal with tasks.

Tend to distinguish between two types of motivations:

One type refers to physiological processes and relates to existential needs.

For example: if we are hungry and we are looking for food to quell hunger.

The second type, which we want to focus on, relates to emotional and psychological processes and is related to our will and the expectation of those around us to function, to meet and succeed.

It can be within the family, school, workplace, among friends, etc. Such motivation requires the ability to mobilize mental and emotional resources.

What causes high motivation?

Many people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) have a problem of lack of motivation that is also associated with emotional processes, and can be interpreted as a tendency to procrastination, laziness, and even dysfunction. In fact, they know very well "what should be done," that is, they know the task, but do not know how to recruit themselves in order to carry it out. To understand the cause of the motivation, try to simulate it as an electric motor: what drives the motor is power. Now try to imagine you or your child facing a new task.

Do you believe you can do it? Have you ever been successful in completing other tasks, or do you have a bitter taste and even frustration? If you have been successful, you have built a network of self-confidence and that is actually your power! If you have the power, you will surely want to deal with new tasks and you will end them with a feeling of satisfaction.

When it comes to students who are constantly exposed to academic tasks and challenges, it is important to know that the more the student believes that he is capable of performing the task at hand, the greater the motivation and desire to perform additional and even more challenging tasks. On the other hand, a student with a low self-image will tell himself in advance that he has no chance, thereby increasing frustration and not even aspiring to begin the task.

The relationship between emotion and motivation

As we face a new task and try to mobilize our resources to accomplish it, we involve both rationality and emotion. There is an argument that the task should be divided into two: everything related to planning is related to thinking and rationality, whereas everything related to self-enlistment in order to begin the task, to meet and complete the times must include the emotion!

Here are 3 tips that activate emotion and encourage motivation:

  1. Good mood

Many times we tend to postpone tasks, give ourselves up and forget what we promised ourselves to accomplish the task we set. when is it happening? It turns out, when we are in a bad mood. On the other hand, when we have a good feeling, satisfaction and joy, we increase our chances of success on every mission. So how do we feel good when we're in the middle of a mission? Well, it has been found that progress in the task will do wonders for improving the feeling.

Therefore, when dealing with any task, you have to follow the progress and feel satisfaction as you progress in it! It can be work progress, academic progress, progress in grades, and more. Give yourself a feeling of pride, and feel happy that you have progressed - it will put you in a good mood and help you feel successful!

  1. Awards to encourage motivation

Prizes do us good in the heart ... Penalties and fines do the opposite - a bad feeling. Studies have found that receiving a reward is the number one reason that motivates us to do things. So all that is left is to set prizes and give them (to yourself or to your child) once you have successfully completed a task or reached the set goal! If you can not find enough reward to start working on that project, try this method: Deposit one of your friends with some money. Set a goal appropriate for the type of task you are facing. If you get to the destination, the friend will return the money deposited with him. But if you did not stand at the destination, the money would remain with him. We have no doubt that you now have the motivation to do the job!

  1. Get inspiration from good friends

Research shows that if we are in a society where there is a certain behavior and / or dynamics, we will try to be similar to them.

That is, if we become in a society where people engage in different activities or new initiatives, we are very likely to learn from them through similar behavior. Therefore, it is worthwhile to settle in an environment of people with high goals and standards, so we can learn from them the same level of seriousness and thus advance and achieve our goals. For children, it is best to direct them to join social activities, such as youth movements, where there is a dynamic in social and community action and contribution.

In this framework the children are inspired by other apprentices and instructors with a high level of achievement and the level of motivation to succeed also rises.
