Monthly Author Challenge Day 14! One month of Crypto. Showing you some love on Valentines day!

in #monthlyauthorchallenge6 years ago (edited)

Because it's Valentines day and I have no Valentine in particular (not that I value this commercialized day very much) I want to show you all some love by writing about other ways than trading and mining to make profits with cryptocurrency.

To be honest, I know too little about mining to get involved in that yet, but hope to learn soon (hint: @abstracterror 😊).
However, if you don't excel in one thing, don't let that hold you back to try other ways.
And we all know that trading isn't for everyone either.
So I am listing several other ways to profit from the cryptoworld without having to know the ins and outs of trading and/or mining.

Hosting Masternodes

There are several coins that let you earn their coins by running a Masternode. What is a Masternode?
Here a short description: A masternode is a server on a decentralized network. It is utilized to complete unique functions in ways ordinary nodes can’t. It can be used for features like direct send / instant transactions or private transactions.
(source: www.blockonomi.com/masternode-guide)
If you want to host a masternode, there is an initial investment to make since you need a certain amount of coins in your wallet at all times. The cost for this can range from anywhere between $100,- to $50,000 depending on the coin.
The most famous masternode is probably Dash, but there are several different coins that offer this option.
For instance: Chaincoin (CHC), Solaris (XLR), Ion (ION), Diamond (DMD), Exclusivecoin (EXCL), Bitsend (BSD)

Of course it all depends how much you want to spend, but either way, masternodes can be a nice way of creating a passive income.

Renting out unused computer space

There are a few companies that pay you with their tradeable coins if you rent out your unused computer space.
Sometimes the computer needs to be running all day, but most of the time it is possible to allocate time slots most convenient for you (when you're not using your computer).
Examples of companies that would love to rent your computer space:
Storj
Maidsafe
Filecoin
VTorrent
Substratum
Burst

Make sure to check out what their pros and cons are and if you need to run your computer all day (which can be a problem sometimes). Some of these aren't actually running yet, but show great promise. My personal favourite is Substratum because I think they have great potential once they're up and running and are one of its kind.

Staking coins

Some cryptos will award you just for staking (holding) coins in your wallet. They are POS (Proof of Stake) coins and this is ideal if running a masternode is not possible because of the cost or because you want access to your coins at all times (of course you'll lose income if you transfer your coins or sell them).

Great Staking coins are:

NEO (you will be awarded with GAS for holding NEO)

BeanCash (formerly Bitbean) I mentioned this coin before.
Holding BeanCash will create sprouts.

PIVX another great coin to hold if you want to earn more of them

Stratis

Reddcoin

Dash

There are many more and it is a good idea to check some of these out and see what the benefits are. Also a great way of creating passive income.

I'm sort of burned out on crypto right now, but this might give me some reason to hold other coins.

I'm glad it helped a little :) Thanks for stopping by!
