I think sometimes with electronics it depends on luck too.
My ASUS mini PC died and refuse to start up last month.
Oh sorry to hear that. My Asus router is several years old now and still going strong. Funny thing the only problem I had was the power button will not stay pushed in, so I have it rubber banded lol.
Well, at least you have a workaround. Now, one of my task is to rip the harddisk out of the machine that refuse to start. Funny thing is the USB was still providing power to the phone charging despite not powering up
