“Jiak” is the pronunciation of a Hokkien word meaning “Eat”. “Kueh” is a Malay word that refers to their version of their cake. There are different types of Malay kueh. These half green kueh are called kueh selat. The white part is made from glutinous rice. Something I bought from a shop at 92 Lorong 4 Toa Payoh, Singapore after lunch with my taiji buddies last Saturday. Actually, I think it’s one of the nicest kueh selat I have. They are $0.80 per piece.
