Monopoly, A game where you try to acquire everyone else money as quickly as possible and this article will help you to learn the tips and tricks (including some you've probably never thought of before) required to command a win in your next game.

Before we start you should probably learn about the dice, you might think they are entirely random, and while each individual dice is random, there are more ways to roll a 7 than other numbers on a dice. This diagram will show you why

cube-six-gambling-play-37524.jpeg

Probability of Rolling;123456789101112
Fraction01/362/363/364/365/366/365/364/363/362/361/36
Percentage/%02.85.68.311.113.916.713.911.18.35.62.8

This is because there is only 1 way to roll a 12; 6+6.
However, there are 6 different ways to roll a 7; 1+6, 2+5, 3+4, 4+3, 5+2 and 6+1.

This should tell you that you are more likely to land on squares 6-8 spaces away, this is useful particularly when the monopoly speed die is in play whenever you get the opportunity to roll it.

With the dice concept out of the way now let's get down to business, properties. In short, you should buy everything and always prefer properties to cash, however, if your low on cash you skip buying the utilities, as there never going to bankrupt anyone. The best set to go for is interestingly the oranges, since the houses are still relatively cheap, costing £/$100 each, but a Hotel on Vine Street/New York Avenue will still rake in £/$1000.

Not only that but the most popular square to land on is jail/just visiting since there are 3 ways to get there; By landing the usual way, by landing on "go to jail" square or by picking up a chance card. And since the orange properties are 6-9 squares away from jail, the probabilities dictate that these squares are more often landed on than others.

Another lesser-known trick is as soon as you get a set mortgage everything else, and this will allow you to release as much cash as possible to buy houses on your set, this will often allow you to develop your properties faster than others even if you are a little late to get a set yourself.

A much better-known trick is to get to 3 houses as quickly as possible since the profit increases exponentially up to 3 houses and flattens out afterwards, as an example take a look at Vine Street/New York Avenue.

Vine StreetFee
Rent Only£16
1 House£80
2 Houses£220
3 Houses£600
4 Houses£800
Hotel£1,000

However, if you own multiple sets and really want to start a monopoly I personally recommend not going straight to a hotel, instead try just buying 4 houses on each property. You spend slightly less money developing them, and risk slightly more if you get stuck at street repairs, however, if you can use up all 32 available houses, it can make it impossible for your opponents to improve their own properties due to the fact you have deliberately used up all of the houses in the game, assuring yourself victory!
