Monomad Entry for December 17th, 2018 — "Heart of the Poppy"
This is our entry for December 17th for the #monomad challenge of black-and-white photography, originally started by @brumest:
I have toyed with the idea of doing an "artistic" series of photos, so I thought we'd try this as a daily challenge on behalf of the Red Dragonfly Gallery for a while. Today marks our 7th entry into this endeavor!
"Heart of the Poppy"
On my daily walk to work, I go past a steep hillside/slope I have mentioned before, on which a kindly elderly lady has sewn a vast range of wildflowers. From about May onwards, there are thousands of bright orange California Poppies blooming there.
This is a macro shot of the "heart" of such a poppy, taken this past summer. You can even see where a little bit of pollen has drifted off the stamens.
(Monday topic: Macro)
Red Dragonfly Gallery News:
Another storm is heading this way; the weather service says we can expect 40-45 mph winds with gusts to 60-65 mph. Which is always troublesome, as it is an almost guaranteed recipe for power and/or Internet outages.
It's certainly not conducive to Christmas shopping, but I did get nine eBay packages mailed out. So that's a good thing!
Wishing you all a great evening, and we'll be back with more tomorrow!
Thanks for reading!
