Monomad Entry for December 15th, 2018 — "Leaves In The Wind"
This is our entry for December 15th for the #monomad challenge of black-and-white photography, originally started by @brumest:
I have toyed with the idea of doing an "artistic" series of photos for some time, so I thought we'd try this as a daily challenge on behalf of the Red Dragonfly Gallery for a while. Today marks our 5th entry into this endeavor!
"Leaves in the Wind"
It has been exceptionally windy for the past 5-6 days, and most trees have completely lost their leaves by now. Nearby, we actually have a eucalyptus tree — which is an evergreen that doesn't lose its leaves in winter — and even it is showing signs of having been beaten up by the wind.
Yes, it's a little unusual for eucalyptus trees to grow in Washington state, but we're in the sunnier warmer parts and there are a handful of them scattered around town... including this one, up the street from the Gallery location.

Red Dragonfly Gallery News:
Today, we actually sold some "real art."
Sad as it may sound — given that we have an art gallery — this past year, days on which we sell art have been the exception, rather than the rule. Most days go buy and all visitors will get are a few postcards or art greeting cards, and maybe a small print.
It wasn't anything major, but a $350 original is "a $350 original," and we are very grateful for that, given that we're currently in a pretty precarious financial situation!
Anyway, it set a nice tone for the weekend, and I feel hopeful that we might have another good day tomorrow... and maybe even a little holiday business during the coming week.
And with that slightly upbeat tone, I wish you all a great evening, and we'll be back with more tomorrow!
Thanks for reading!
