Norton & Lifelock partners in corporate crime using Equifax data breach to profit

in #money7 years ago (edited)

I keep getting these popups next to my system tray that look like this:

It says volumes about the lack of morality / ethics in that many companies see the Equifax data breach as an opportunity to make money rather than address the real issue which is centralization. It seems that they've taken a page out of the HMO playbook on how to profit from disease (in this case moral rot) rather than cure. Why cure the problem when treatments are so much more profitable?

I wanted to investigate this further and found this:

Interestingly enough the popup itself was thought to be a possible phishing attempt. At this point, who needs to phish, when the corp's are giving away for free through hacks?

Everybody should just start giving out false information on identity. Their use of it is absolutely criminal by any ethical or moral standard, but of course not by the letter of the law.

Listen up centralized carpet baggers, us IT geeks are going to keelhaul your centralized "bubble boy IT" under the ship of Iota, EOS and Ethereum. You will be rendered irrelevant. You've lost moral authority. You can't fix it even if you wanted to. But do yourself a favor and at least get out of the way before you get run over. You're too stupid and selfish.

If you think you can stop bitcoin and all the technology that underlies it, your only chance is to flip the internet kill switch. But since you know you can't do that and survive, just be smart enough to step out of the way before it's too late. Exit gracefully. For you it's already checkmate. It's only a matter of time before the 143 million Americans whose data has been compromised realize that there's an exit from this BS system...

Why is this somehow reminiscent of the "information superhighway" and the effects of the invention of the web browser?
