Young people? Let them die.
All subsequent lines will justify a rough title....
What I will write down, is specially worth to mention in our country and even in southern and eastern Europe. But I guess, this is happening to many other countries all over the world.
All talk about young people (well....they are not so young any more....) is usually the plucking of empty straw. Slovenian youth (in this case, we are talking about the age of about thirty-five years, this is a kind of boundary, when the things in life show their dark side ) are in serious housing problems. This is for them - if they do not have wealthy parents - a bigger and more insoluble problem than getting a regular job. They still get a job, they can not afford housing because they can not enter the housing market. The economy is booming with growing data in the construction sector, but this country is very different from the comparable ones: it does not build housing and does not invest in it, does not have a serious housing policy, nor does it reduce the resulting backlog, some of the least efficient urban housing funds create an impression , that something is going on - but does not, because the state for this 25 years since the distribution of former social housing ... nothing really works. Cities can not replace the state and its housing policy.

Not only this: if they are already creditworthy to buy an apartment, it means literally living for an apartment. Prices are disproportionately high in terms of wages. The backlog is so horrific that even if they were to build 5000 apartments a year and would be managed by the state (at all levels of the state) as a rent fund, we would see the effect in ten years or so. And because that is the case, no politicians are involved in this project - because once the mandate ends, the effects will not be known yet. That's why they do not care. However, it is also because most politicians are wealthy enough to buy their own homes. They do not even see this problem.
Economy is flourishing - our salaries should rise
Companies expect that their tax burdens will be reduced due to the economic downturn. Employees expect that their salaries will rise as a result of economic growth. And if the surplus would prefer to deal with this acute problem? So if they actually start to create new municipal, state and possibly cooperative housing stock funds, should they begin to promote solidarity building that reduces prices in order to bring them closer to a reasonable, accessible threshold? This problem should be addressed urgently. For years we have been listening to reports on how exemplary this is now being done in Finland, now in Austria or Canada. But nothing happens. Make the measure of success the availability of rentals and other housing, not GDP! It would have turned out that we are where we are so reluctant to see: among eastern European countries, which have much more broken down the social state than Slovenia. We can talk about child allowance, accessible education, about guaranteed minimum wages, but if we give the other side of the scales the inaccessibility of housing, we immediately lose all the advantage.

The state also does nothing to stop the growth of real estate prices from tourism. It does not matter how it affects young people. Because higher prices prove the country's supposed performance, right? As this is known for GDP. But this is at the same time a central problem for young people. Not only can they not buy apartments - they live in rented apartments of physical owners, with very rigid rights, unrivaled with tenants' rights, for example in Austria. This is totally unsustainable, something unacceptable for 2017. Renting apartments as an economic activity is not known at all - this is the afternoon craft of the owners
Due to the shortage of housing, today this is a business where profits are on the level of profits of drug trafficking,
if I express that very roughly. In Slovenia, capital does not have to work hard to increase, housing construction has exceptional markups, every square meter built in an average dwelling can be sold for a multiple - because it is a conjuncture, demand has returned with all the force, and the housing is not even For those who have money (or they have parents who have money). The rest in the housing market have nothing to look for. They can only be subcontractors, and the situation is getting worse for them or buyers of apartments with stagnation prices. We have not been subject to taxation either by owners of several properties or by imposing a serious property tax - which is completely incomprehensible.
But without the doubt, those who are profiting from apartments do not do this at the expense of the state (if they think it), but at the expense of all those who pay incredibly high rents (without serious rights and completely without relief), and high Housing prices. In fact, we should adopt a law on correcting injustices for younger citizens - because the absence of a serious housing policy in this country simply has been going on for too long.

This problem of housing in Slovenia is more a political problem than it is economical. The situation is bad for young "X" generation in general in every area, housing is only one of the problems. We also have problem of short tern working contracts, abuse of self employment status, lower and lower rewards for a good work, cos the employers can afford it. And so you have doctors and highly educated people that are willing to work in bar as a waitress/or or cleaning lady.
But let us focus on housing problem. Probably more than 90% of all real estates is owned by Slovene people and not rented. We practically don't have a long tern lease real estate market. Where you can rent for say 50 years for a very affordable price. Jazbinšek law in the past gave our parents (older generation) houses for a price of a today's car if we compare things. Nothing wrong with that, except that we are now paying it by not being able to buy own house and so forced to live with parents or renting really small studios.
Another problem is the lack of the political party which would have some power in our parliament and which would speak for young people. Because the most voters are old people the strongest political parties will always try to serve the older generation (DESUS) they will always get important role in our parliament and nearly never a party that represents young people will success. Also salaries, taxation policy, all the reforms that are still waiting to happen, everything is in favour of the older generations and pensioners. It seems that in a democratic way it will be very difficult for young people to win and prevail over the older generations. Probably something bigger will have to happen, not speaking about revolution but for sure there will have to be an organised activities in form or protests or so, to show our leaders that we are still here, alive and that we also need some space under the Sun.
I strongly agree with all your aspects to the situation. The thing is, I can not include all problems in one article, 'cause in that case, I guess it would be too long for most readers. Housing problem (prices) is very big problem at this time, even in very developed countries, like Canada and US. Lower rewards for good work are also global problem, but if you ask me, the main problem is East-West progress/development. In all 400 years, from around 1600, until the year....cca. 2000 , the west had all the power. Now, the east is stronger every year and west is losing it. It is showing in higher prices of every thing you buy (except the one, made in the eastern countries) and lower payouts. USA have the same problem. But as the salaries in China are slowly getting on a rank of European salaries, I see that as a new possibility for making new companies here. It is political problem too, sure. I see politics ( as a whole) as a burden for development, and as you say we would really need political party for younger people to see some positive changes. I also do not take this system as democratic, because a lot of deals are made under the rug, just helping to make bigger debt. Protests are mostly the worst thing that can happen. Why? Politicians and bankers usually take advantage in the time of bigger protests, and make bigger sell-offs, and than we are paying for them with bigger taxations....
Yeah, you made valid point about protests, however I just don't see how the young generation can change things. Even if they all go to elections, there is no one to vote for and if someone will appear to support young people it will probably still not be enough to win the elections, even if all youngs go and vote for that party. Not surprising that many young brain don't see the future and move out.
There is an old saying, presidents are already chosen for two decades ahead. Presidents are just puppets. They can not fix the problem. Why do you think there are people on the streets in US? Why are their salaries going down every month? Where do you think big investments come from? Did you ever hear for Rothschild family? Well, they own most of the central banks of the world. And what they did in last 10 months is... they took back (withdraw) a large % of their invested money from US, back to their pockets. Some of that money was invested into Europe . What do you think, can US president do about that... Not a single thing.

Heard about them. They have a power to cause the crash of any market if they want and of course buy in after that. However they wanted to have Hillary as a president, but i think they will adopt fast.
Interesting.
