Why a niche blog can make you more money with AdSense

There is a long debate going on online, whether a niche blog can make you more money through AdSense than a general blog, or the other way round.
Of course, we keep other factors constant, for example we don't run any affiliate programs or any other way or method to monetize a blog. The only source of income is AdSense ads, and that is where this post will be focused on.
AdSense and AdWords are two valuable applications for bloggers, owned and run by Google. In fact, they are different sides of the same coin, and bloggers with a keen interest in maximizing their blogs' income potential should look into the little detail that plays an important role the operation of those platforms. I will try to explain this.
When advertisers bid for specific keywords to be shown in AdSense ads, they are offered various options. They can create and target their AdWords advertising campaign based on a number of criteria, such as the geographical area of their targeted audience. Once they define their chosen geographical area to be targeted, they place their bids. A niche blog that is focused, for example, on writing news about that area, will be favored to show relevant AdSense ads most of the time, increase the ad click-through rate, ensure the advertiser's satisfaction with the campaign's success and, as a result, make more money.
AdWords advertisers are also offered the opportunity to advertise on specific blogs. Let's say the blog of Harvard Business Review runs AdSense ads (let's make this assumption, for the sake of this example, even though that is not the case in fact). Advertisers with an interest in the business management sector would be more than happy if they could place their ads on that specific blog, and AdWords does give them this privilege. Once again, highly relevant ads are on display, and both the advertiser and the publisher are happy with the result.
In conclusion, running AdSense ads on a niche blog is in many ways a more profitable route towards making money than through a blog or a website that deals with a lot of general categories of interest.
