I think one thing that most American presidents and Secretaries of State neglect is that the primary source of American power is its wealth. Instead of enhancing capital formation and the ability to maintain that wealth, our politicians enact policies that make the US weaker financially, which eventually and inevitably leads to a decline in power.
Yes and corruption of the education system also help to this decline in a big way.
