Pokecoins Are About To Be Officially Regulated In JapansteemCreated with Sketch.

The Japanese government is on the verge of being the first to regulate Pokecoins, the virtual currency used in the insanely popular Pokemon Go game.

Pokemon Go swept the world this summer, which caused the share prices of Nintendo to more than double in less than a month after releasing the new game.

It's not only shares of Nintendo seeing more action, but the game's virtual currency is seeing players pile money into it. Tens of millions of dollars have accumulated in Japanese virtual currency now after the game's release, and this is why the government is looking to securitize and regulate the Pokecoins.

It will be interesting to see if these regulations set a standard that other government's may follow.
