TIPS TO REMEMBER WHEN YOUR POSTS AREN'T TRENDING

in #money8 years ago (edited)

"I wrote a life experience hours ago but it never got picked up."

Here's some tips to make you less irritable whilst watching your post's votes stand still.

Tip Number One:

  • Not every story you write is going to start trending

Not every story that you post right now is going to start trending, especially if you're not appealing to Steemit and its platform directly. This is mostly because Steemit users so far are mostly here to follow Steemit and not particularly your life stories. You can help this by promoting your story in other articles but try not to spam. Keep it relevant.

Tip Number Two:

  • You don't have to crack a big pay out every time

Even if you don't make a killer post, money wise, that's okay. Your account is still gaining interest on both its Steem Based Dollars and its Steem Power. And even if you spend a week not making money on a single post, you're bound to make some sooner or later. Go back to the drawing board and try again.

Tip Number Three:

  • Keep it simple, stupid

There are literally so many new users and posts being created at this point that it's hard to stand out in the bunch. This is why you see a lot more "simple" posts making big bucks. And that's okay. not all of us have time to read a short story.

As Steemit's user base and infrastructure grows, we'll see a much more diverse demographic that we can each appeal to with specific places for groups who're like-minded to hang out. I'm sure there will be a Steemit book club soon enough.

Tip Number Four:

  • Don't stress out!

If your post is tanking and is no longer on the front page of any of Steemit's sub pages, don't stress, your time will come. Today I posted an excellent story about love and loss but that's made no money compared to a post that I made whilst drunk. I'm sure within due time there will be more support for older posts so even the good ones that have had their time in the spotlight (or haven't yet) will still be able to get picked up again and again.

Tip Number Five

  • Go do something else

Steemit is addictive, but don't go forgetting that you have a real life too. After all, the community loves seeing photos of people in their natural habitat. Go out and take some of those photos, come back, and try again.

So those are my Top 5 Tips to remember when your posts aren't going anywhere.

I've been getting a lot of messages on my other social media accounts from people that I've sent to this site and I just wanted to make this for them. I understand it's hard not to feel a little torn up inside when your friends are making money and you're not, we understand.

Steemit is new and nothing right now is certain. When it comes to posts you really have to get lucky and hope that a few whales suck it in and pump it out their blow-holes. This can take a while.

For now, just:

Peace and Love
