First of all we have to define what money is according to Merriam-Webster:
- something (such as coins or bills) used as a way to pay for goods and services and to pay people for their work
- a person's wealth : the money that a person has
Technically it is wealth, value, an essence that is objective and valuable, but not necessarily material. For it to become material, or quantifiable, you usually need a currency or an asset to represent it.
A currency is only a representation of money, but it's not necessarily money (only if it's commodity money). Many people confuse currency with money, when they are not necessarily the same.

Since we are moral people we should not rob, steal, extort, or tax eachother. Other than that, we should be free to earn money with the other methods.
