Mind blowing indeed. The truth is that regardless of where one lives this is very important knowledge as almost all powerful civilizations have been controlled by this. Almost every single western country In the world including Europe (Pound, Euro) are also fiat currencies. This story is relevant for almost all places though the timeline, characters and events are different.
The one thing that is very unique about America is that there was a brief and powerful indapendance from the system that now ownes and controls it.
