As long as values are demonstrated by actual behaviour and not claimed, pushed, or even talked about much, I'm fine with them; I have some of my own somewhere, I think. But I will immediately distrust anyone talking about his "values" without provocation to do so. Some people say I am a cynic, there is that.
I guess the shilling is much the same. If one is pushing too much their values then you know that most likely is bullshit. Same happens when they push a coin too much.
