The Statistical Office of the EU published the final data on the growth of the eurozone economy in the third quarter, confirming a preliminary estimate of a quarterly increase by 0.2%, which reflects the lowest rate since the second quarter of 2014. Analysts also had not expected a change in the preliminary assessment. Over the year, the economy grew 1.6%, which is below the preliminary estimate of 1.7%. The EU economy grew by 0.3% in the third quarter compared to the second quarter and by 1.8% compared with the same period last year. The largest quarterly growth was observed in Malta - 3.6% and in Romania - 1.9%. The decline in GDP was observed in Lithuania, Germany, Sweden and Italy. Compared to the third quarter of 2017, GDP grew at the fastest pace in Malta, in Poland, Latvia and Hungary.
