Daily Thoughts #14: What is money? (什么是钱？）

Today, I come across a lot of posts about the announcement of SMT and also the valuation of Steem, SBD and other crypto. It triggers me to think back the fundamental question of:

1. Why is money valuable?
2. Where does the value comes from?
3. What if one day, the government, bank, and other institution denies for example USD as valid currency, what will happen?

The concept of money itself is actually made up by all of us. I wonder when is the time that people came to an unanimous understanding that the value of a dollar is a dollar. I can’t imagine the time where we practiced system barter and the whole trade was a mess.

Money itself possesses the similar concept with time. For example, imagine a world where human are immortal. Time will not be a limited resource for them. As they will not have to worry about impending death. As for money, what if we overprinted the money, like the hyperinflation that happened in Germany at 1923. Money lost its value at that time and the economy was practically crashed.

@dragosroua had raised this question and intrigued me to think. I will be doing some digging and thinking about this. Then, I will be posting out my findings and I hope to throw some questions to the community as well.
