DTube - Is The Retail Apocalypse Here? - MASSIVE Retail Chains Have Gone Bankrupt!

in #money6 years ago

One of our most recent video reports!
See the original article here:

Josh Sigurdson talks with author and economic analyst John Sneisen about the countless companies filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the past year.
A total of 30 retail chain corporations have filed for bankruptcy in the past year. 50 in the past 3 years. There appears to be a growing trend.
From Toys "R" Us to Macy's, Sears, Radioshack, Aeropostale, Claire's and the list continues to grow seemingly by the week.
We are seeing corporations be forced to compete against a massive government subsidized monopoly like Amazon and they're scrambling. Of course these are the monopolies of the past going under because corporate power is being pushed into the hands of fewer by the day. This could not happen if it weren't for government handouts to corporations while taxing and regulating everyone else out of the market.

Now Amazon provides a good service. It has a lot of earned demand on the free market, but it has an unfair advantage due to corporatism at the hands of the state. It's impossible to compete against a corporation being propped up with tax payer money and there's no incentive for Amazon to do a good job or innovate neither.

Many corporations like Walmart, Save On Foods and Costco are desperately attempting to match Amazon when it comes to groceries and supplies by delivering their products. There's a lot of desperation and it looks like the bubble is popping as fundamentals do not seem to apply any long.

As this bubble grows more and more pressure, we will see more automation, more taxation as an excuse which will make the problem worse, more unemployment, poverty and higher prices on lower quality goods and services.

It's time this power was handed back to the individuals on the free market rather than government subsidized corporatism. State conglomerates. The forced marketplace.

Stay tuned as we continue to report on this disturbing trend!

I wonder how the collapse of small retail businesses compares to the big boys in terms of people losing work? I will bet that this quiet downturn is far bigger than a few big businesses going bust. I've noticed in my town numerous shops closing down. The high street is is beginning to look like 1 in 10 shops has closed. I'm pretty sure it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. People just don't have spare money to spend. We've reached debt saturation point.

well, the goal was always to centralize resources wasn't it... at the end of the day, Amazon will be the sole supplier of everyday's necessities apparently... I just hope I have a nice stack and a productive little farm when this happens

That's really disturbing. It's already difficult for smaller companies to compete against large corporations and the government meddling of the market is not helping. Just imagine the jobs lost once these companies and corporation closes. The government is suppose to make the lives of it's cutizens better and not rob them of their livelyhood. Thanks for the video @joshsigurdson, it definitely opened my eyes on this issue.

Ultimately new players will find a way to level the playing field. Am not bothered, retail might be going extinct but unfair trade isn't.

Jeeze, nice job laying it all out. My friend and I became such DTube celebrities, we did our part to prop up retail and went on a shopping spree with all our virtual moola. Check out the bling we got: https://d.tube/v/nerdstalking/abr9wlet

very,very true.

People are broke, in debt up to their eye balls so there is no money for to buy anything. Many of the businesses have been destroyed like ToysRus which was burdened by massive debt by the buyout by private equity. Amazon has taken the rest.

To find out what is ahead of us one just has to look at the past as history ALWAYS REPEATS
