Remember the VISA Bitcoin debit card disaster and the following fallout at the beginning of the year? Yeah, if you owned a Visa Debit card in Europe, issued by Wavecrest, you were affected. By now, most of us hopefully have been reimbursed all our lost funds. Myself? I temporarily lost a couple of thousand dollars on Bitwala debit card, but i have to give massive credit to Bitwala team for helping their users get it back as fast as possible.

What i liked most about Bitwala, was the ability to top up the card with Bitcoin already converted to fiat, without being subject to the Bitcoin volatility.

So, what options do we have now? Do not worry, you can close the 30 browser tabs, that you have open, in search for a new Bitcoin debit card. Coinvigilance.com has a neat updated table for us, of which cards are available and which will hit soon. Where was this table before!? Instant bookmark!

To see the full article, head over to their blog post here. But if you want the quick tldr, head directly to the Google Sheets table, that they have set up for us here and get the latest info. The table is updated as of March 7th, 2018.

So, what does that table tell us? If you are in the US, you can get a VISA, but if you reside in Europe, you are stuck with MasterCard, for now. To be honest, from the top of my head - i don't actually know the advantages of one over the other - feel free to let me know in the comments, if you are more informed. But at the moment, Mistertango and Bitnovo seem to be the only options for crypto debit cards in Europe.

While they have made it really easy and conveniant for us mere mortals, Coinvigilance team also points out, that everyone should do their own research as well. If you want to know more, head over to their blog and see for yourself. If you like, what they have done, give them a pat on the back in the form of a comment.

Thanks, Arman Van Bitcoin, for pointing this out!

Well, apparantly the FUD that surrounds Binance in the last days, is dissipating and now Binance is out with a statement of their own. According to them, the hackers used the tactics described in my post, but luckily, the crooks didn't manage to get anything out of it.

Thanks for bring us to question too. Waiting to know any answer. I voted you.

So have you ever used any sort of crypto debit card? I haven’t. I really don’t pay for anything day to day in crypto.

I preach it enough, but I’m not walking the walk. Interesting...

Yeah, i used Bitwala, but currently i only convert Coinbase -> Fiat. There will soon be a bigger variety of cards and quite possibly some anonymity if some of these cards allow for minoe spending without verifying yourself. Will keep an eye on it

Wirex offers new crypto debit cards. They offer the possibility to choose between Euro, British Pound, US Dollar and Bitcoin. Wirex wants to offer the service from the end of the month.
I Hope it helps you.

Weird, according to the table linked in the article and Wirex themselves, the cards are not availbale yet:

People are going to get sick to death of me harping on about this from now on. We need to get the actors in the crypto space regulated! The large banks who control the fiat and the people will not can not work with unregulated companies and exchanges. NO banks! then NO fiat gateways! Unfortunately, regulation is a long and costly necessity if we want to go mainstream.

NAGA visa debit are on the entrance. can't wait for it!

Yeah that's the push I need was thinking of putting my tiny savings into crypto but was scared of all that's been going on but since you involved i gat no worries got some question for you sir would meet you over at the Chanel sir

On January 5, users of various bitcoin debit cards were notified that their card had been suspended for a while and could not use it. Wavecrest, the company that issued almost all existing bitcoin debit cards, told customers that they were instructed to close all prepaid cards they had sent immediately.
