Excellent post and query. Yes I would rather not need money. I tend to think the less you have the more free you are. I think of that old Janis Joplin song line - Freedom's jut another word for nothing left to lose. Second I remember how the Bible speaks of the love of money and that it can prevent you from entering the kingdom of God. Well the things of this world are here for us on loan to us to enjoy, but we leave them all behind when we leave here. if the riches are going to prevent me from heaven and if I leave them when I leave, I do not need them.
