FB Advertising 5 Powerful Targeting Tips

So i've been working with FB Business Manager, Audience Insights etc. for quite a while and think i've collected some valuable information on how to do targeting efficiently.

Here is a quick summary of what i learned so far:

  1. Target Single Countries - This goes especially for US but also EU, for EU i would group max. 4 countries. FB does prioritze countries by itself after getting hits.
  2. Target Probable Buyers - There is no way around some research. I recommend using Audience Insights, Google Trends and also the FB Top Search Bar, to see what is working. For example: You rather target a Fishing Magazine, Known Fisher than just the Activity Fishing itself.
  3. Retarget your visitors - You have to retarget the visitors of your store/website with a Custom Audience, which is set up to count visitors on your specific page. Then you're able to reach out to people who already are familiar with your band = warm traffic.
  4. Flex Targeting - To narrow down a big audience of potential buyers you can use the function that the people also have to like another page. With this method you can get smaller, more targeted audiences.
  5. Exclusions - If you're going to put an item on sale and don't want recent buyers to see it (so they won't be mad for not getting the sale price) you can exclude your buyers from your SALE adset, so they won't get to see the sale ad copy.
