Decorating the Christmas tree with bills

in #money7 years ago

In Venezuela the economy is in so bad shape, people have started to decorate their Christmas tree with bills!

The explanation is that in this country, the government implemented a currency control scheme years ago, so they are the ones deciding who has access to other currencies at the “official”price, everyone else has to access them in the black market, at which rate the minimum wage would be something like 5 dollars per month!

The result of this and much other policies I will discuss later is clear, a total collapse in the economy and the destruction of the purchasing power of regular citizens.

Is cheaper to use bills than to buy actual Christmas decorations. Soon the same will happen with things like toilet paper and you will see a lot of jokes when that happen.

That's terrible! This is another example of why fiat currency can go fuck itself.

The problem isn't fiat currency, per se. Price inflation exists because there's too much money circulating (i.e. being spent) within the economy. This is either because the government is spending too much, taxing too little or a combination of the two.

The problem is fiscal policy.

I agree but I would say both are the problem. Also I would say fiat currency is a big game and it needs to stop. I wish there was no money

I won't argue against having the Star Trek universe become a reality, but correct utilisation of the current system would be a stepping stone. At present, there is no country that is using their fiat money system the way that they're supposed to because they're still trying to apply convertible currency thinking to their policies.

Exactly! No country is using it correctly.

You are right. I don’t know if you read news about Venezuela, but now the government has a plan to develop and launch its own crypto currency called “el Petro” (oil in Spanish is petróleo)... since this people always destroy whatever they touch, I would like to see if they are able to fail even when the project is blokchain based.

I did see this news already yes. I think that will be really bad for the Venezuela people. More scams by the Venezuela Government.

wow I totally agree with you. I will be doing the same when dollar collapses. 100% SP for you :)

hahahaha well I suppose we would have to wait a lot more to see the dollar collapsing. But it sure as hell will be funny to see a Christmas tree decorated with real dollars bills hahahahaha!

When I read the title, I thought that the tree was going to be decorated with household bills that would normally be stuck to the fridge with a magnet. Maybe decorate the tree with the receipts for all of the presents you've bought.

Nope! I mean money bills. Incredible to think it’s cheaper to do that than to buy proper decorations
