As a blockchain developer, I think this is brilliant. Brilliant!

What does this mean though?

Well, it gives the diamonds provenance - the ability to be able to track where it came from, where it has been, its qualities (the 4Cs - Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat-Weight). Provenance, proof-of-authenticity are going to be big things in blockchain. I can't help but wonder at other ways to use this tech.

I say keep an eye out for them, also - www.provenance.org is another project I am interested in.

Anti-counterfeit measures are already in place in fashion, in technology like the smart tags we see being attached to shoes such as we see with www.chronicled.com which use blockchain technology to prevent counterfeit.
