Sentiment Analysis on Financial News for Trend Predictions
Lately I've been trying to get into financial tech. Investing has always been an interest of mine, especially in the world of algorithmic and HF trading. However when it comes to many publicly traded companies, especially speculative penny stocks, public hype has a serious effect. The notion of irrational trading inspired me to develop a system that uses trends in news articles (and eventually social commentary) to predict shifts in stock value. This is in no way an attempt to build a governing factor in investment decisions, but merely a tool to follow trends and compare written coverage to actual performance.
