I think it can happen at least in some large part of the world... like the whole USA or Europe or South America (just examples). I think eventually either people will make some mistake, or some big event happens that will shut it down (or shut down electricity or satellites)... and for at least some time we will have to live like in the “old days”. I have no way to prove it though.
