Oh, no! This Food Eating All of Our Income...

in #money6 years ago

Did you know that we’re in average spending 40% of our income on food?

This is a bad news as well as the good one, because this gives you space to save some money when buying food wisely.

My husband and I ourselves are spending quite a lot on food… And this doesn’t please us. So, all the time we’re thinking how we can optimise this process of purchasing food.

The most recent experiment is to go shopping only for those items the will be eaten in the next two days, approximately. No buying in bulk to store lots of food at home. We actually discuss what food will we eat at what time of the day and buy only needed items.

This may look like it should be more expensive as we buy less quantity and no family packs, but, actually, it’s quite the opposite. In such a way you buy only that food that is needed and don’t get into your shopping bag just all kinds of food you love and then are unable to eat it all.

Also, a person I know, for example, saved money on such things as coffee at the cafes, and thus saved quite a bunch of money which allowed them to buy a house.

Also an acquaintance of mine does not eat traditional food at all. He eats some special food in tubes, something that resembles cosmonaut food. It’s very healthy (according to him), and also as a side bonus it saves a lot of money as well.

Have you ever experimented on saving money on food? What were your results?

Wow it is delicious fruit .I
It is my favorite fruit ..

Wonderful post thank you so much for sharing with us <3 @aleksandraz

We do something similar here in terms of the food shopping: we buy only what we need, and try to reduce at the same time the amount of packing. We also buy as much local stuff as possible (not necessarily organics as we don't see the point in buying organic food that has traveled accross the entire planet).

Some little help to our planet, with the means we have.

I find your approach rather fascinating.

I personally spend a lot on food too. . . . (and snacks in-between)
I will do a 30 day monitoring on my spending to see how much of my income is being spent on food.

Remind me to get back to you on this. (Would be interesting results)
