this article is to show you how to mine Monero with a Vega56 at 1800+ H/s at around 160W per card.

Step by step guide:

1. Read all instrutions first before doing it
2. Download programms / software upfront
3. This is just a guideline if you brick your GPU or anything else is going wrong - this is not up to me. Everybody is his own boss - handle it like that.

First of all you need to have the original Vega56 Default BIOS, those of you who switched to the Vega64 BIOS should go back on the original. The Vega64 BIOS is consuming much more energy as the 56 and is less efficient.

Let's start:

GPU Settings

• Install the 17.30 Blockchain Driver then restart the system
• Open the Radeon Software, go to System and open Global Settings
• Deactivate HBCC and accept it (the programm will shut down and restart - this takes about a minute) now activate HBCC, raise the memory fully up and accept it (this and the WattMan settings needs to be set for every Vega card seperated and it has to be done after every restart of the system)
• disable Crossfire

Open WattMan and set the following values

• GPU Frequency: -30%
• GPU Voltage: 1000mV (this needs to be adjusted for every card depending on its stabilty)
• Memory Frequency: 950 MHz
• Memory Voltage: 1000mV (same as with GPU Volt. - adjust it)
• Powerlimit: -30 %
• Fan Min Speed: at least 3500RPM - better more (you need to cool down the memory as much as possible to prevent it from clocking down)

Monero Miner (XMR-STAK-AMD)

• Download XMR-STAK-AMD
• unzip it
• open config
• edit the config as discribed below

Example for 3 GPU

• gpu_thread_num is normally 3 but as we are using 2 threads per GPU it needs to be doubled
• gpu_threads_conf is setting the work intensity etc. (as you can see 2 threads per GPU are set)

• If you can't achieve the above settings try the following
• Start with 1012 / 1012 intensity for each thread, that should hash arround 1600 H/s;
• Raise it to 1512 / 1512 intensity = 1700 H/s;
• Now try to push it to 2016 / 1600 as described above, this will give you 1800+ H/s per card
