Arghh Monday!! Why do we hate Mondays SO MUCH!!
TGIM (Thank God it’s Monday) said nobody ever!!
I have been working from so many years now, believe me I have never liked Mondays ever. I am pretty sure none of you people like to have a loving relationship with this demon known as “Monday”.
Today, I am going to share my thoughts regarding why people hate Mondays and the actual science behind this hatred so let’s begin with a hilarious saying:
Mondays mostly act as a giant of workload and hectic routine waiting and makes people gloomy and lethargic. A report “The Telegraph”, stated that on Mondays, people don't crack their first smile until 11:16 am.
Well, let's try to find out some reasons, for what has now become a worldwide syndrome - 'The Monday Morning Blues'.
You Hate to Wake up after a long weekend
People usually enjoy their weekend and continue the fun activities till Sunday night and the very next thought of resuming the daily routine makes people exhausted because their Sleeping Pattern Changes during the Weekend and we are slaves to our body clocks so we are unable to accept the change so easily!
One study found that American women of all ages and locations feel least attractive on Mondays.
Rules to Follow!
After two days of being the one who is in charge, we have to brace ourselves to adhere to the rules and regulations of the workplace. Our body needs time to adjust to the new scheme of things, and this is one of the prime reasons that people are sullen and gloomy on Mondays.
Hate the Chirpy Crowd!
People usually discuss their weekend happenings which irritate others who are already messed up in work and have no interest in others life.
Unwanted Job Role
According to a massive Gallup poll, 70 percent of people are unsatisfied from their current jobs. Feelings of depression and anxiety can start on Sunday night, leading to an unproductive Monday. That might be why 37 percent of job applications are submitted on Tuesdays, more than any other day.
Health Factors
Health factors contribute a lot in the activities of a person. Scientists have found that even people who generally maintain their weight weigh the most at the beginning of the week. Mondays are also the most common day for people to suffer heart attacks and strokes. Even if you don’t end up in the hospital, your blood pressure is higher on Monday, as is your chance of getting sick in general.
You Are More Likely to Have a Stroke on Mondays
Believe it or Not! Perception twist!!
In the end, I would like to conclude that we are only a victim of ourselves and our thoughts. Monday is coming again every seven days whether we like or not. The choice becomes changing the perception of the representation of Mondays and changing the patterns of behavior we’ve developed in response to this perception.
Let’s begin with some mindful Monday Tips:
• As the thoughts come up, take five long deep inhales and exhales through your nose
• Have gratitude for what you “hate” about Mondays
• Now that your body is calming down, take a moment to explore what triggered the thought around “hating” Monday and invoke compassion for yourself
• Now, you have just learned a new awareness for yourself. Smile
• Where do you feel this awareness in your body? Breathe and allow it to move through you without reacting
So, we should start Monday with a BIG smile and by saying “Oh! Monday, Let’s Do It!
Hope you smiled. Goodbye!
