Arm yourself with good times to help you face the bitter hours
Life is precious. I have no doubt about it. However, it also carries very bitter moments. It is those moments that follow the loss of a loved one, when we feel that our world is coming down, broken into a thousand pieces we know not how to rebuild, as if it were a puzzle too complicated beyond our understanding.
When we feel bad, either mental or physical, it is difficult to be positive. No matter how many or how many motivational phrases self-help books we go through our hands, in those moments we just feel we are surrounded by a thick gray fog we do not know how to get out.
In those bitter times, when ominous thoughts cross our mind and we are about to give up, the best weapon we have is hope, shored up in a good past.
The good times keep us up
When we look back and remember the good times, those moments we have shared with significant others or have lived to the fullest become the fuel that gives us the energy we need to move forward. Therefore it is very important to have a good moment to help us face the most difficult hours.
Those good times not only become an oasis of peace that give us a shelter in the storm but are also an incredible source of hope. As bad as we are, if we look to the future with hope, if we are certain that we await tomorrow experiences that are worth to be lived, we find the strength to get out of that black hole.
Therefore it is very important that we not waste this. In fact, we can understand the present as a bank account in which we enter good experiences, that in the future we will to face bad times. You build your morning, so make sure you create a strong foundation that can withstand any kind of emotional earthquake.
Feel: The key to treasure good experiences
To cherish good times you do not need to do anything special, just learn to be aware of the here and now. When we learn to look at the details and enjoy the little things, we are creating good experiences, without even realizing it.
Just let emotions flow. In fact, if you look back, you will realize that your best moments are those in which you felt happy, elated, grateful, lived ... it simply being more aware of what we are living and become a kind of " collectors emotions ", which will be the shield that protects us in the bitterest hours.
Whenever something astonish you, you vibrate, your excited or your happy, do not run quickly in another direction. There's only a few minutes to savor this experience, because it will be recorded somewhere in your brain and will become part of the thousand reasons exist to look to the future with hope. You'll know that the days ahead, they are also loaded with beautiful experiences that are worth fighting.
One trick to consolidate the good memories
Research conducted at the University College of London reveals a very simple trick to consolidate the good memories in our brain. In the experiment they asked 26 people who saw video clips, some just saw them and went to another activity, others devoted 40 seconds to revive or summarize what they had seen, either in their minds or aloud.
Researchers appreciated that reminder those 40 seconds made the difference. In fact, brain scans in greater activation of different areas was seen, especially the posterior cingulate cortex, indicating that the brain was actively processing what he had just experienced. In people who did not reviewed the video, the memory of these disappeared quickly.
How can we apply this research to our life?
When you live an experience you want to treasure, to be part of this "kit of salvation" for the bad times, revíval in your mind, you experience those emotions again and recreate the situation. This way you will ensure that you will keep in your future memory.
