Fallout 4 VR - easy guide to play DLCs

Fallout 4 VR does not come along with full DLC support. Which is definitely a shame since it is a great game and the DLCs like Far Harbor shine even more in VR.

But don't worry, you with some little tweaks you will be able to also play perfectly fine your DLC in Fallout 4 VR.

I. First of all you are going to need the DLC.

Just buy the regular DLC of Fallout 4 for this. You can also get a very cheap Seasons Pass via specific Key Sellers. I am not linking them here. Just google for it. You know were to look at.

II. Then you need to copy the DLCs in the data folder of Fallout 4 VR.

III. When you have done this you need to go to PC->AppDate->Loval->Fallout4VR and create a text file:

Name it DLCist.txt.

And write the following lines in it - depending on the DLCs you own:

DLCUltraHighResolution.esm
DLCCoast.esm
DLCNukaWorld.esm
DLCRobot.esm
DLCworkshop01.esm
DLCworkshop02.esm
DLCworkshop03.esm

IV. Next, go to steamapps->common->Fallout 4 VR

Open the Fallout4.ini

You will find the following code:

[Archive]
sResourceIndexFileList=Fallout4 - Textures1.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures2.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures3.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures4.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures5.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures6.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures7.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures8.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures9.ba2
sResourceStartUpArchiveList=Fallout4 - Startup.ba2, Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2, Fallout4 - Interface.ba2
SResourceArchiveList=Fallout4 - Voices.ba2, Fallout4 - Meshes.ba2, Fallout4 - MeshesExtra.ba2, Fallout4 - Misc.ba2, Fallout4 - Sounds.ba2, Fallout4 - Materials.ba2
SResourceArchiveList2=Fallout4 - Animations.ba2
sResourceDataDirsFinal=
SGeometryPackageList=Fallout4 - Geometry.csg
SCellResourceIndexFileList=Fallout4.cdx
SResourceArchiveMemoryCacheList= Fallout4 - Misc.ba2, Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2, Fallout4 - Interface.ba2, Fallout4 - Materials.ba2
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

Make sure you add as in the code above:

"bInvalidateOlderFiles=1"

And you erase everything in the line of "sResourceDataDirsFinal=" after the "=".

Your DLCs are supposed to work properly.

However if you start up the first DLC you will see that for example in Far Habor the ground textures are missing. But do not worry this can also easily be fixed.

V.1 Just go to your Fallout4Custom.ini or the Fallout4VRCustom.ini

[Display]
bUsePreCulledObjects=0

This will come with a performance hit but works overall very good.

V.2 Another solution I found is the following mod:

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/28842?tab=description

VI. Now you should be all good to go and enjoy your Fallout 4 VR DLCs.
