The Legend of Niko Price Continues
UFC Fight Night in Tampa Bay Florida
Niko Price Versus James Vick tonight was entertaining while it lasted. James Vick the former lightweight comes up to welterweight for the first time and he is competitive for awhile versus Niko Price.
But Niko plays no games in the octagon, he is technical as long as he wants to be. Tonight he didn't want to be. On the contrary James Vick loves to engage in technical battles, at this point to a fault in my opinion. He's been struggling when fighters get in his face and brawl.
Niko Price brawled and the fight got to the floor. Lots of action with Price doing most of the damage and eventually Price cuts Vick open with an elbow on the bridge of Vick's nose. Vick had a pretty brief moment of top control and ground and pound but that sequence would eventually lead to his demise in this fight.
Niko Price did Niko Price things. Vick was standing above Niko Price, who was on his back, pressuring and attempting strike Price below. Then out of nowhere Price lands an unholy up-kick from his back. His heel lands on Vicks face creating a sound similar to a Barry Bonds fully on steroids homerun. A sickening mixture of a crack and a thud. Vick was KO'd instantly and he fell to his knees.
Not every day I see a knockout like that.
Niko Price has also knocked a dude out off of his back with hammer fists! One of my favorite knockouts ever and tonight he had another knockout off of his back. I mean its clear that this guy is literally a threat in all positions.
This guy is definitely becoming one of my favorite fighters to watch. I wonder who he fights next?
James Vick might get released by the UFC at this point as this is his 4th loss in a row. We will see.
Crazy fight!
Niko Price reminds me of a honey badger. Bad mofo who doesn't give a **** and who always puts on great fights. He basically never gives boring fights and always finishes or is finished. Zero boring decisions in the UFC so far. In ten straight fights in the UFC it's always him TKOing/subbing someone or vice versa.
They would be doing him a favor at this point honestly. His chin is long gone. He was on a roll for a while winning 8 straight but then Gaethje took his soul and chin. Now Gaethje's on a roll and Vick just can't win.
Heck yes a honey badger has gotta be Niko's spirit animal. He is a brawler but there is something that feels unique about him. I don't know if he has the stuff to be champion, time will tell for that. I'm a fan and he will be dangerous for anyone in the Octagon with him, becoming a must watch!
Yeah Vick definitely seems like he is mentally off since that fight! He should have perhaps put on a little muscle or something for the move up in weight class. It looked like he just kind of didn't cut to 155 and he didn't look very good physically. A really bad matchup for Vick but this the UFC so you gotta fight whoever. Wonder what he does if the UFC releases him. That K.O. was extra brutal.
