Hello Steemit friends,

On our list of the weird foods of the world series, today we will travel again to Mexico to discover the famous HUITLACOCHE or CORN SMUT!!!

BIZARRE FOOD : HUITLACOCHE
COUNTRY : MEXICO

Normally it is a plant disease that grows on ears of corn around the kernels. It looks like river stones, gray clouds and puffy.

In the Mexican gastronomy, when this strange fungus is brought to the kitchen, it becomes a delicacy used in all sorts of dishes from soups to enchiladas to sauces. Huitlacoche quesadilla anyone??

Since it’s technically a vegetable, you can use it raw. It has an earthy flavor that gives you options to put it into dishes as well as sauces. Just have it sauteed in some butter and add some jalapenos, it is simply superb! There are many ways of cooking huitlacoche!

This one is a little bit more appetizing than the last one ha.

Sooo, basically what I'm getting so far from your blog is that in culinary Mexican, take almost any food, odd or not, put it in a taco or enchilada type bread etc and you're good to go lol ;)

j/k, i know that there is a lot more to it than that!

LOL! We eat all that moves in the Mexican gastronomy! Ants, ants larva, corn smut, insects and the list goes on!
Other people be like : 'Why they just don't eat normal food'!!!!
